Our Copyright Policy

Lococo Art Tile respects the work of artists and the intellectual property rights laws in effect in the United States of America. We work to protect the rights of artists with respect to their work and adhere to copyright law. Copyright law is a complicated subject and we review each of our images on a case-by-case basis. Many of our stock images are from copyright free sources. All others stock images and requested custom images are reproduced with the knowledge of the artist or the party holding the rights to the image and some agreement has been entered into to reproduce the image. Your personal art work or photo

We require a release from you to reproduce your personal artwork or photo for your order. Please download our release form, fill it out, sign it, and return it with your order.

Artwork and photos you own but did not author

Even though you may own an artwork or photo which you purchased or received as a gift you do not own the rights to reproduce that work or transfer to us the right to reproduce that work unless that work is no longer under copyright.

What if you want a specific work of art that is under copyright or if you’re unsure?

We will search for the artist and copyright status of the specified art works and contact them for you to obtain permission to reproduce the image. Some artists are happy to oblige while others are not. Some require a fee to be negotiated for reproduction rights. We charge a small fee for this process. You may contact the artist yourself and negotiate the rights to reproduce the image and then provide us with the rights agreement and a transfer of rights to us to reproduce it.

Generally, work produced before 1925 is no longer under copyright and can be reproduced but there are certain exceptions to the rule. Also, some work produced before 1975 that did not have the copyright renewed may be copyright free at this time. Images in books, calendars, note cards and other sources may no longer be copyrighted by the author but the image in the book or other source may be copyrighted by the publisher and may not be reproduced without written permission.
