Birthe Koustrup (1917-2000) was a skilled Danish naturalist, designer, and painter. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark into the Thornam dynasty—a family of naturalistic painters famous for their flower designs—she attended the Frederiksberg Technical School and the School of Applied Arts in Copenhagen, and was a painter at Dahl Jensen’s Porcelain Manufacturers and an art instructor from 1958 to 2000.
